How toll fees are computed
Most Philippine expressways use a closed-system: you take a toll ticket on entry and pay based on the entry/exit plaza pair. TPLEX, NLEX (north of Bocaue), SLEX, STAR, CAVITEX, CALAX, and Skyway Stage 3 all work this way. NAIA Expressway uses an open-system (one fee for the short segment, another for the full stretch), and the NLEX-SLEX Connector is a flat-fee road (one toll for the entire 7.7-km stretch).
Rates are also tiered by vehicle class. A Class 2 fare is roughly 2× the Class 1 fare, and Class 3 is roughly 3×. The exact multiplier varies per concessionaire based on axle count and vehicle height. All fares already include the 12% VAT.
How to calculate your toll fee
- 1Pick your vehicle classClass 1 for cars, jeeps, vans, and SUVs. Class 2 for buses and light trucks. Class 3 for heavy trucks and trailers.
- 2Select your entry plazaType the plaza name or expressway code (e.g. NLEX, SLEX, TPLEX) to filter the list. The plaza tag tells you which expressway it belongs to.
- 3Select your exit plazaPick any destination plaza — even on a different expressway. Cross-expressway trips like Manila → Baguio compute as a single fare with per-segment breakdown.
- 4Read the total and segmentsThe total toll fee shows in pesos, with a per-expressway breakdown so you can see what you pay on each leg and at which RFID system.
Frequently asked questions
- How accurate are these toll rates?
- Every fare is sourced from the official Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) toll-rate matrices via the public expressway.ph API. We re-sync weekly so any concessionaire-announced rate adjustment is reflected within seven days.
- What is the difference between Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles?
- Class 1 covers cars, jeepneys, vans, AUVs, and SUVs (vehicles with 2 axles up to 7 ft tall). Class 2 covers buses and light trucks (2 axles over 7 ft, or 3+ axles under 7 ft). Class 3 covers heavy trucks — container trucks, trailer trucks, and cement mixers (3+ axles, over 7 ft tall).
- Do these fees include VAT?
- Yes. All TRB-published toll-rate matrices already include the 12% Value-Added Tax. The fee shown is what you actually pay at the toll plaza or what gets debited from your RFID account.
- Can I calculate a trip that crosses multiple expressways?
- Yes — pick any origin and any destination from the dropdowns. For Manila-Baguio (NLEX → SCTEX → TPLEX) or Manila-Tagaytay (SLEX → CALAX), the calculator returns a single total plus a per-segment breakdown showing exactly what you pay on each expressway and at which RFID system (Easytrip vs Autosweep).
- Why do NLEX rates jump suddenly between certain plazas?
- NLEX has both an open-system stretch (Balintawak to Bocaue, where you pay a flat fee on entry) and a closed-system stretch (Bocaue to Tarlac, where the fee depends on entry/exit). The jump you see crossing into the closed system reflects this. The same applies to SLEX (Skyway open system + SLEX closed system).
- Are motorcycles included?
- No. Motorcycles are not allowed on most Philippine tollways (NLEX, SLEX, TPLEX, CAVITEX, etc.) — TRB does not publish a motorcycle toll class for these.
- Where do RFID discounts apply?
- Currently no general RFID discount applies — Easytrip and Autosweep both charge the same TRB-published rate. Some operators run occasional promotional rebates (loaded back to your RFID account), but the cash and RFID prices at the plaza are identical.
- How often is this calculator updated?
- The toll-rate database is hosted on Supabase and refreshed weekly from the official TRB-published rates. The page itself uses 1-hour ISR caching for fast loads.
