STAR Tollway runs 41.9 km from Sto. Tomas in Batangas to the Batangas City Port, completing the SLEX corridor southward. It uses Autosweep RFID and a fully closed toll system.
About STAR Tollway
The Southern Tagalog Arterial Road, better known as STAR Tollway, was the first tollway dedicated to the southern Batangas corridor. Stage 1 opened in 2001 from Sto. Tomas to Lipa; Stage 2 extended the road to Batangas City Port in 2008. The expressway is operated by STAR Infrastructure Development Corp under San Miguel Corporation.
STAR is a critical link for Batangas Port traffic — RoRo and fast craft to Visayas, Mindoro, and Romblon all originate there, and a steady stream of cargo and passenger vehicles uses the tollway daily. It is also the primary expressway access to Lipa, Tanauan, and the Mt. Malarayat residential district.
STAR uses Autosweep RFID, the same system as SLEX, Skyway, and TPLEX. Most drivers run from Manila to Batangas Port on one tag without swapping. End-to-end Class 1 fare is roughly ₱135 in 2026.
The road is fully closed-system: take a ticket or RFID-tap at entry, pay at exit based on the pair. Plazas include Sto. Tomas, Tanauan, Malvar, Lipa, Sto. Toribio, Ibaan, and Batangas.

- For Batangas Port RoRo trips to Mindoro/Calapan, exit at Batangas — the port is a 5-minute drive from the exit.
- For Taal Lake and Talisay viewpoints, exit at Tanauan and follow the descending road south to the lake.
- Friday-evening southbound and Sunday-afternoon northbound queues build during summer (Apr–May) when Batangas beach traffic peaks.
- Autosweep RFID is required at all plazas; cash lanes are increasingly limited.
